A balanced diet helps keep your teeth and gums in good working order, as does limiting your sugar intake and going easy on acidic food and drink. But we know that’s often easier said than done.
Underneath our professional dentist exteriors, we’re human too. And many of us in the Keppel Dental team love a sweet treat as much as anyone. Not to mention the fact we’re a group of keen cooks and foodies.
We’re open to the idea of occasionally indulging in food and drink that’s usually on the “no good for teeth” list. So in the interest of balance, we bring you the Keppel Dental team’s top lunchtime treats in Yeppoon—our guide to the best places to get coffee, dine in, dine out and even have a picnic.
Bon appetite!
Cherished coffee spots in Yeppoon
When it comes to grabbing a coffee in Yeppoon, you’re spoilt for choice.
Our first recommendation is Ocean Brew for its chilled-out atmosphere or if you’re out for a walk near Lioness Park (Lammermoor) stop by the Gather 4703 coffee van. And while you’re down that way, make sure you take a moment to enjoy the view.
Looking for a dog-friendly café? Maddy Luck knows just the spot. “Lure Living on Anzac Parade is the place to go. You can enjoy a great coffee and stare at cute puppies and dogs.” What more could you possibly want?
Extra coffee tips
- Head to express coffee stop, The Little Black Duck on James Street for yummy lattes.
- Try Chapter on Hill Street for its great coffee and swift service.
- In the Emu Park area? Then Mia says you should “check out Honey Bee Collective for their coffee, then sit and enjoy it on the main beach”.
- Not a coffee drinker? Go to The Attic Espresso Bar on James Street for (arguably) one of the best hot choccies in town.
- And several people in the Keppel Dental team recommend enjoying your takeaway coffee at Cooee Bay Beach.
Dine-in for lunch
When you’ve got time in Yeppoon to enjoy a dine-in lunch, head to Flour on Normanby Street. Maddy highly recommends it and gives the pumpkin fritters a special mention.
For an upmarket lunchtime dining experience, book a table at the Tsuruya Japanese restaurant, which is part of the Capricorn Resort on Farnborough Road. While it’s a little bit farther to go, dental assistant Caiti confidently says “they have the best Bento box,” making that extra travel time totally worth it.
Or get lunch on the run
Lots of cafes and restaurants in Yeppoon offer takeaway menus, so once again you’re spoilt for choice. Seabreeze Servo & Takeaway has “great burgers” according to Caiti. But if it doesn’t feel like a burger day, head to Jolt Bakery on Anzac Parade where you can get a great omelette and yummo food. Plus they’re really kind and friendly.
For Asian fare, check out Rice to Meet You in Yeppoon Central or CocoMo Express on James Street. The latter always have fresh rice paper rolls, sushi and salads to tempt you.
If you have any special dietary requirements then head to Yogolicious Café, also on James Street. They’re known locally as the place to go for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We have it on good authority that their gluten-free wraps and burgers are amazing.
Where to pop for a picnic in Yeppoon
Whether you get takeout or prepare your lunch at home, take advantage of the abundance of beautiful picnic spots around Yeppoon. The Yeppoon main beach front (close to the Keppel Kraken), Farnborough beach and Spring Head Lookout are all great places to perch for an impromptu picnic. But there’s one location that’s an al fresco dining favourite with the Keppel Dental team.
“Cooee Bay, on the grass in front of the units,” Caiti says. And many of the team agree this is the best lunch time picnic spot in Yeppoon.
Where will you try first?
